The government has granted permission to start operations of Tata Consultancy Services in Visakhapatnam. The building required for this has also been decided to be leased. The Dallas Technology Center building in Visakhapatnam has been allotted to TCS. Fourteen hundred people can work here in a single shift. TCS has informed the government that it will start the campus with two thousand employees initially. Land has also been allotted to TCS for office expansion.
It will take time for TCS to set up its own campus. The government has allotted an available building to provide an opportunity to start operations earlier without such a situation. The campus is likely to go live soon after completing other interior work. There is a possibility of expanding the campus with a seating capacity of ten thousand people within the next two years or building a new campus.
Infosys Satellite Center has already been set up in Visakhapatnam. However, Lokesh is in talks with Infosys management to set up a full-fledged campus. A positive decision on this is expected in the next three months. On the other hand, TCS’ entry is expected to be useful in bringing large-scale IT companies to Visakhapatnam.
